OUR MISSION

South Asian Students for Justice (SASJ) is a pioneering youth organization dedicated to changing narratives about the South Asian community and empowering and uniting South Asian students through policy, education, and awareness.

Empowering Youth One Step at a Time

OUR STORY

Established in 2023, South Asian Students for Justice is one of the first South Asian youth-led organization. Noticing the misrepresentation in the South Asian community, our founders Ravi Vora, Arun Nayakkar, and Rohan Sehgal sought to create a platform for the voices of South Asian youth to advocate for social justice, cultural awareness, and equality. Over the course of our history, SASJ has focused extensively on empowering youth voices, while making a difference in policy and education.

SASJ began as a small organization in Westchester County, New York. As our founders grew frustrated by the pervasive stereotypes overshadowing the rich culture of South Asia they decided to take matters into their own hands. Creating South Asian Students for Justice in 2023 allowed them to educate their peers around them on the beautiful culture of South Asia. Realizing that South Asian misrepresentation was a larger problem than just Westchester, SASJ branched out. Today, SASJ has chapters all over the United States and even in Lahore, Pakistan, with over 100 volunteers worldwide.
